Illumin8
Illumin8 is the youth ministry of Wyoming Church of Christ. The youth meet together regularly to have fun, build friendships and to encourage each other in growing closer to Jesus Christ.
There is usually a Saturday night event for all young people of high school age (and over), plus a weekly Bible Study for young adults (ages 17-25.) For more information, visit their website: Illumin8
Kids’ Club
Kids’ Club is for all children in years K-6. They meet on Sundays between 10.15 and 11.00am. At Kids’ Club, the children enjoy stories, games, crafts and other activities, especially cooking.
Kate Brown coordinates the Children’s ministries at Wyoming. See her if you would like to get involved or if you would like more information.
Creche
Child minding is available during the message on Sundays. This provides parents with young, pre-school children, an opportunity to be fed spiritually while their children are cared for by experienced carers.
See our Kate Brown, our children’s ministry coordinator, for more information.
Heart to Heart
Heart to Heart is a ministry for women. We continually aim to develop a network of supportive and mentoring
relationships, woman-to-woman, based on sound Biblical teaching and prayer. We also aim to develop ministries within this ministry, according to the gifts and abilities God has given the women in this fellowship. For more information contact Juanita Gray.
Prayer Ministry
If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Prayer Chain Our church community operates a prayer chain. This team of people is available to pray for immediate and urgent needs.
Ladies’ Prayer Meeting Every Monday a group of committed women meet to seek God’s blessing on our church family and its ministries. They also pray for relatives and friends. Privacy and confidentiality is respected and maintained.
We also remember in prayer, the needs of our fellow brothers and sisters suffering persecution throughout the world, as requested by the Voice of the Martyrs organisation. The Voice of the Martyrs website is at: www.persecution.org.au
Ministry Leaders’ Prayer Meeting Once a month, the ministry leaders meet to pray for our church; for God’s direction and His blessing.
Juanita Gray coordinates all the prayer ministry at Wyoming Church of Christ. Please see her for more information.
The OWL’s (Older Wiser Learners)
The OWL’s is a seniors’ group which meets together each Friday (except during the school holidays.) They are committed to worship and to learning more about God. They are also committed to having fun and fellowship, and to sharing the love of Jesus with those in the group, within our church family, as well as to those in the wider community. This ministry is coordinated by Andrea Edwards. See Andrea for more information.

OTHER MINISTRIES
Many people in our church are also actively involved in Christian ministries run by other organisations.
Operation Christmas Child
This project is run by Samaritan’s Purse and is coordinated at our church by Judi Edgington. Church members are encouraged to bring shoe-box sized boxes filled with stationary and toiletry items, small toys and other non-perishable goodies. These boxes are collected in October and sent overseas as Christmas presents to needy children. See Judi for more specific information, or go to www.samaritanspurse.org/OCC
GoodSeed
Ray and Else Cousins are the national representatives for GoodSeed Australia. This ministry exists to create tools to help people share the message of the Bible; and it teaches people how to use these tools.
One such tool is “The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus”, a book and DVD, which explains the Bible chronologically from Creation to Christ; starting with simple truths and moving on to more complex concepts. For more information, visit their website www.goodseed.com
Special Religious Education in Schools
Every week during the school year, dedicated volunteers are teaching literally thousands of local public school children about God, the Bible and important Christian truths. Several of these volunteer teachers are members of our church.
If you would like to be a part of this valuable ministry, or support it in some way, please see Margaret Mowczko. Members of our church also minister to schools through prayer teams, Youth for Christ events, and other special events.
Camps and other Outreach Ministries
Several members of our church are involved with different annual camps and outreach missions run by other Christian organisations. The Entrance Family Festival is held every January at The Entrance Public School. This seven-day event is run by Scripture Union Family Missions. If you would like to be involved please see Cherise Wakeley.
Supa Camp is a week long camp for disadvantaged teenagers held at Camp Toukley. Camp Toukley also run camps for primary-aged children as well as camps for young adults with physical disabilities. If you would like to get involved please see Margaret Mowczko or visit www.camptoukley.com.au
See Marge Furze if you are interested in being involved in camps which minister to people with intellectual diabilities. These camps are held at Mount Victoria and Yarramundi.
Kara Women’s Refuge
The clients of Kara require crisis accomodation for various reasons, including domestic abuse and homelessness. Women and their children may stay there for several months before being assisted to find more permanent accomodation.
The women of Wyoming Church of Christ have been ministering in a small way to the clients at Kara for several years. We give gifts at Christmas and Mother’s Day to each lady. These gifts include a tract or small Bible - telling of Christ’s love for all. We also collect second hand items in good condition to help ladies set up home. Other donations are given to the staff at Kara, to be used where it is needed most.
Recently several of the ladies came to our photo day, and we were able to give each lady a professional portrait of themselves and their children.
For more information about this outreach, please see Bronwyn Rich.
More info coming soon.
Do you know something that I don’t; something that should be on this page? Then please tell me about it - Marg.
